A recipe using figs, also known as “the fruit of immortality!”
Figs have high fiber content, and are especially recommended to women to improve digestion!
Sprayed with sake and beautifully browned, the recipe is a true delicacy!
Recommended as a snack or for brunch on a weekend, this bread pudding with a gentle sweetness pairs perfectly with a glass of crisp honjozo sake. Give this bread pudding recipe a try!
2 slices of bread (preferably thick slices) |
2 figs |
Butter, as needed |
1 egg |
50g of cornstarch |
(A) 200ml of milk |
(A) 25g of sugar |
(A) 40ml of fresh cream |
Sliced almonds, as needed |
Sake, as needed |
Step 1:
Remove the crust of the two thick slices of bread and cut into 1.5 cm cubes. Cut the figs with the skin on, into bite-size pieces.
Step 2:
Add eggs and cornstarch into a bowl and mix well. Add (A) and mix well to avoid any lumps.
Step 3:
Put the bread in a buttered baking pan and pour the mixture from (Step 2) into the pan, and arrange the figs on top.
Step 4:
Sprinkle with sliced almonds, spray with sake, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
