Accented with fresh wasabi!
If you are getting tired of New Year’s dishes by now, how about a simple and easy-to-eat steak bowl? This recipe is a great way to enjoy the meat you received as a year-end gift or when you decide to buy some high quality meat to treat yourself for New Year’s Day.
The avocado and beef go perfectly together with the wasabi-flavored sauce, which will increase your appetite even more. The richness of the avocado combined with the juiciness of the meat makes for an easy yet luxurious bowl of rice. Sake is added to the sauce for extra flavor, and heating the sauce brings out the aroma.
200g of beef (for steak) |
┗ A pinch of salt and pepper |
1 avocado |
1/2 tablespoon of salad oil |
(A) 1 tablespoon of sake |
(A) 3 tablespoons of soy sauce |
(A) 3 tablespoons of mirin |
(A) 1.5 teaspoons of wasabi |
12g of butter |
460g of rice |
2 tablespoons of white roasted sesame seeds |
Step 1:
Season beef on both sides with salt and pepper. Remove seeds and skin from avocado and cut into 1 cm cubes.
Step 2:
Heat oil in a frying pan, add the beef, and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes, then turn it over to the other side and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and cut it into 1.5cm cubes.
Step 3:
Add (A) to the pan in (Step 2), mix and cook for about 1 minute, finally add butter and cook for 30 seconds.
Step 4:
Place half of the rice in a bowl, put (Step 2) in the center and avocado around it, pour (Step 3) sauce all over and sprinkle white sesame seeds.
