Who We Are

The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association (JSS) is a non-profit organization that consists of sake and shochu producers throughout Japan. Our members include producers of sake, honkaku shochu, awamori, and hon mirin. The association was formed in 1953, under the "Act on Securing of Liquor Tax and on Liquor Business Associations". As of March 2020, JSS is affiliated with 1,696 members, which include 1,410 sake breweries, 273 shochu distilleries, and 13 mirin makers under 47 regional associations. Our Mission

Our mission at the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Associations is to secure government revenue from liquor taxation to ensure the protection and preservation of liquor business transactions. We aid liquor businesses by supporting the production, promotion, and distribution of sake and shochu in Japan and around the world.
