The strong flavors make this dish the perfect accompaniment for a glass of alcohol. You will be left reaching for more and more. The crispy texture and refreshing taste of the green onions add a nice accent to the dish. It is a great dish to serve guests when you want to snack lightly on something!
Ginger-simmered beef will pair beautifully with rich, fruity, light, and smooth types of sake! Make sure to give this a try at your next dinner party!
Ingredients (2 Servings)
200g beef (small thin pieces) |
2 cloves of ginger |
(A) 50ml of sake |
(A) 2 tablespoons of mirin |
(A) 2 tablespoons of soy sauce |
(A) 1 tablespoon of sugar |
Green onion, as needed |
Step 1:
Cut beef into bite-size pieces, dip in boiling water, then into cold water and drain the water.
Step 2:
Peel and cut ginger into thin strips, soak in water and drain. Cut the white part of the green onions into fine strips. Soak in water and then drain.
Step 3:
Place (A) in a saucepan over high heat and bring to a boil. When it boils down a little, add the beef from (Step 1) and cook until the liquid is almost gone.
Step 4:
Add the ginger from (Step 2) and cook well, then remove the pan from heat.
Step 5:
Place on a plate and top with the finely chopped green onions from (Step 2.)
Tip: Also a great item to finish the night off when served with some rice!
