Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association | JSS
The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association is excited to announce a new brochure guide to breweries in Japan. The catalog, “Something Different: Japanese Sake & Shochu,” showcases 15 Japanese sake and shochu makers along with their products. Initially, this catalog was intended to introduce these breweries to the attendees at ProWein2022, which has been postponed. Luckily, interested readers can still learn about these breweries by downloading a PDF version of the catalog below.
The catalog opens with a list of fast facts describing sake. The following pages each give a brief overview of a sake brewery in alphabetical order. These sections start with a description of the brewery, its location, and any unique characteristics. Afterward, there is a list of sake brands from the brewery accompanied by a description and taste notes.
After a list of sake breweries, readers can learn more about a less familiar Japanese spirit, shochu. The shochu section opens with an introduction to the types of ingredients used in production, along with a note about the distinctions between shochu and awamori. Next, it introduces a prominent shochu maker and an awamori specialty distillery along with their products.
