Our company was founded in 1892 (Meiji 25) by Eizaburo Takeshima under the name Takeshima Honke. It began brewing sake at its current location in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, in the heart of Minakuchi-juku, a post town along the old Tokaido road.
Our flagship trademark, Emishiki, was named by the second-generation owner, Senjiro Takeshima. The name embodies the philosophy that “sake enriches life and brings people closer together. May we enjoy laughter and sake in every season.” It also reflects our dedication to crafting sake so exquisite that it brings a spontaneous smile to those who taste it.
