Watanabe Shuzo was founded in 1909 (Meiji 42) in Tsurajima, Kurashiki City, a region reclaimed through land reclamation projects.
More than 100 years later, the brewery retains the charm of a traditional sake brewery, with its namako-kabe (traditional plastered walls), a brick chimney, and a sugidama (cedar ball) hanging at the storefront. These features preserve the timeless beauty of Japan’s sake-making heritage.
