Iki Island is said to be the birthplace of barley shochu, and barley shochu has been produced there since the 16th century. The name of our brewery is Iki where is name of place and the name of our sake is "Mugi-Shochu Iki".It was in 1900 that we started shochu making using the underground water from the highest mountain in Iki (Gaku-no-Tsuji).
Made from barley and rice malt, "Mugi Shochu Iki" is characterized by the sweetness of the rice malt and the aroma of the barley.
Shochu tasting (free of charge) and sales are available at the adjoining Shochu Museum from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday and from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on Sundays.
We are closed on August 15 and during the year-end and New Year holidays.
