The Saito family started the sake brewing business in the 28th year of the Meiji era. The Saito family had been running a kimono business in Fushimi since the Genroku period, but in the Meiji era, the ninth generation Sotaro Saito changed his business from a kimono merchant to a sake brewing business amid major changes in society. At the time of its founding, it was sold under trademarks such as "Masamune Yanagi" and "Otaka", but in commemoration of the enthronement of Emperor Taisho in the 4th year of the Taisho era, it was changed to the current representative trademark "Eikun". At this time, in memory of the ninth generation Sotaro, who had already passed away, the name was given including "Isao" from the commandment.
After that, we overcame the difficult period during and after the war, and became a corporation (joint-stock company) in Showa 35, which continues to this day.
