Founded in 1935 (Showa 10) in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, by Kunihiko Fukuda, originally from Reihoku Town, Amakusa District. The original brand name at the time of founding was Fuku no Tsuyu. In 1954 (Showa 29), Fukuda Sake Brewing was established, continuing its operations to the present day.
In 1964 (Showa 39), the company introduced an automated koji-making system, achieving greater uniformity and enhanced saccharification power in the koji. To accommodate increased production, the brewery underwent a major renovation in 1982 (Showa 57). In 1984 (Showa 59), a vacuum distillation unit was introduced, enabling the production of shochu with a refined aroma and light, elegant flavor.
