The company was founded in 1717. The origin of the company is designated as the first generation who ran a rice shop and started brewing sake in Nishigo, Nada as a sideline business. The "*" mark, which is now one of Sawanotsuru's marks, is taken from the character for rice.It is from this origin that Sawanotsuru is dedicated to rice and to sake made only from rice, junmai-shu.
Together with "rice" (Yamadanishiki), "water" (Miyamizu), and "people (Tamba chief sake maker)", we aim to be the best of quality of sake in Japan as "Nada Honryu no Sake".
Tours and tastings are available at the Sawanotsuru Museum.
