Okutoujou was founded in 1601.It is a historical sake brewery that also served as an official liquor store for the Ako clan during the Edo period. The brewery still retains its old, relaxed atmosphere, centered around the sake brewery.Blessed with the clear water of the Chikusa River and the rich climate of the rice-producing region of Banshu, a grain-producing region, the brewery has maintained its small size as it was in those days.
The brewery is a semi-underground building built on a stone wall that takes advantage of the topography. We believe it is important to continue to produce sake of satisfactory quality, at least in terms of stone height.
Tasting is available at the direct sales counter. The Okufuji Sake Brewery Museum on the premises exhibits old materials on Sakagoe, a port town that prospered through maritime trade.Open Monday-Saturday9:00-17:00
Please inquire during the year-end and New Year holidays and on Sundays and national holidays.
