Ohsawa Honke Shuzou was established in 1770 (Meiwa 7) during the mid-Edo period in Sakai, and relocated to its current location in Nada, Nishinomiya, in 1954 (Showa 29).
With over 250 years of tradition and history, this brewery has passed down its handcrafted sake-making techniques from generation to generation. Adhering to the principles of traditional sake craftsmanship, the brewery employs methods such as steaming rice in a traditional iron pot and using wooden boxes for koji cultivation in a koji room. Despite the advancements in automation, Ohsawa Honke continues to embrace traditional methods, crafting sake with the same care and devotion as raising a child, even in the harsh cold of winter.
To ensure every batch maintains the highest quality, the brewery limits its production volume so that the brewmaster can oversee every step of the process. Their commitment is to produce premium, flavorful sake with meticulous attention to detail. Additionally, their sales approach focuses on direct-to-consumer distribution, delivering freshly brewed sake directly from the brewery to your home.
