Founded in 1818 (Bunsei 1) during the late Edo period, our brewery began when the fifth-generation head of the Nagase family, Kichiemon, acquired a sake brewing license while continuing his work as a farmer.
The soft water used for brewing flows abundantly from Mt. Futatsumori, which towers behind the brewery. Situated in a remote mountain area at an elevation of 600 meters, the environment is ideal for sake brewing, with low temperatures and cold, clear water.
Here, the 11th-generation head of the Nagase family personally serves as the brewmaster, continuing the family-run operation.
While large-scale production is not possible, we are committed to crafting small batches of sake that we can personally ensure meet our standard of "deliciousness."
In 2022, the sales shop underwent a major renovation.
In addition to purchasing sake and free tastings, standing bar service (paid dining) is now also available.
