A sake brewery founded in 1881 in Shibata City, Kita Echigo. With "Kikusui Funaguchi", Japan's first draft sake in a can, as its representative brand, the brewery also produces seasonal nigorizake "Gorohachi", "Kikusui no Karakuchi" and "Kuramitsu" a jummai-daiginjo-shu (daiginjo-shu) sake. The Kikusui Institute for Sake Culture is located on the premises, and is dedicated not only to sake brewing, but also to the pursuit of "kotozukuri", the art of making sake more interesting and offering new ways to enjoy sake.
