In the 39th year of the Meiji Era (1906), when the head of the Saito family, Taihei Saito, prayed for the safety of brewing for the start of sake brewing, the morning star was reflected through the Divine Mirror in a bowl filled with sake. The name of Kakuboshi was born from this auspicious event that has been passed down to this day. Due to the impact on the brewery building caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, Heisei 23, it was decided to move the brewery from the Ota manufacturing plant, which had been used since its founding in August of Reiwa 3, to the Hakusan manufacturing plant. The Hakusan Factory is the site of the former Kesennuma Hakusan Elementary School, and while the exterior retains the appearance of the elementary school, the interior facilities have been almost completely renovated, and new fruit wine production facilities have been installed, and the products currently manufactured are Japan sake, liqueurs, and fruit liquors.
