Kyogen is the first traditional Japanese art performance designated as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. In this event, you will have a chance to listen to a speach by a real Kyogen performer Motonari Okura and enjoy the time with good sake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motonrai Okura<\/strong> : Noh actor and Kyogen performer of the Okura family, second son of the 25th head of the Okura Yaemon school. Certified holder of an important intangible cultural property (comprehensive certification). He made his debut on stage at the age of 4 years and 8 months with “Iroha,” and has performed “Suehirogi,” “Nasu no Kotoba,” “Chitose,” “Sanbasan,” “Tsurigitsune,” and “Hanako” to this day. He visits elementary, junior high, and high schools to develop school Kyogen, conveying the joy of traditional performing arts to the younger generation. In 2004, as the group’s leader, he planned a performance in Malaysia, working to popularize Kyogen overseas, and in Japan in 2005, he planned the first independent performance “Sakutto Kyogen.” He also focuses on activities in Nara, the birthplace of Kyogen, and was appointed a Nara Tourism Ambassador by the mayor of Nara. In 2017, he directed the play “The Factory,” which he wrote himself, creating a new genre of stage performance.
